Leadership opportunity with a growing accounting and financial consulting firm

Location: Richmond, VA
Work Arrangement: Hybrid | 3–4 days/week
Salary: $115,000–$135,000

A growing accounting and financial consulting firm in Richmond, Virginia, is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to oversee an established book of business, lead a team of tax professionals, and help shape the continued growth of its tax practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated tax professional seeking greater leadership responsibility in a collaborative, family-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and review individual, business, trust, and nonprofit tax returns
- Overse see daily tax department operations, workflow, and deadlines
- Lead, mentor, and develop junior tax professionals
- Provide strategic tax planning and consulting services
- Manage client relationships and develop exceptional client management practices
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
- Improve tax process, procedures, and workpaper systems
- Support practice growth and integration of acquired practices
- Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning and operational improvements
- Recommend innovative solutions that improve efficiency and client experience

Qualifications
- CPA preferred; Enrolled Agent credentials also considered
- Public accounting experience required
- 3+ years of management with experience strongly preferred
- 2+ years of management or direct-report leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of tax regulations and tax planning strategies
- Experience reviewing complex individual, business, trust, and nonprofit returns
- Proven ability to delegate work and develop team members
- Strong client service, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to drive a fast-paced, growing organization
- Strong leadership, integrity, judgment, and accountability
