By instilling core values of teamwork, leadership, and communication, Urban Dove helps students build the skills needed to create a more just and equitable society.Role Description The Teaching Staff role is a full-time, on-site position based in the New York City Metropolitan Area. Teaching staff members plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that support over-age and under-credited high school students in achieving academic progress. Daily responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, implementing curriculum, assessing student learning, and providing individualized support. The role also involves collaborating with colleagues, participating in team meetings, engaging in restorative practices, and maintaining open communication with students, families, and support staff. Teaching staff are expected to model Urban Dove’s core values and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive school culture.Qualifications Strong teaching and education skills, with experience working in high school or alternative education settings.Proficiency in lesson planning and curriculum development, including designing differentiated and culturally responsive instruction.Excellent communication skills, including the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.Commitment to restorative practices, youth development, and fostering an equitable, inclusive learning environment.Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; teacher certification in New York State or eligibility to obtain it is preferred.Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based school model and adapt to the needs of over-age/under-credited students.Strong organizational skills, reliability, and willingness to engage in professional learning and continuous improvement.
