Technical Lead – Electrical Distribution EngineeringSalary: $180,000 – $220,000 per year, depending on experienceLead Major Power Distribution Programs. Build Teams. Grow Client Relationships.We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to lead complex electrical distribution engineering programs, develop client relationships, and oversee technical teams responsible for delivering large-scale power distribution projects.This is a senior leadership opportunity for an electrical distribution professional who enjoys working at the intersection of engineering, project management, team leadership, client relationships, and business development. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence major infrastructure programs, develop engineering talent, work directly with clients, and help grow the business.

What You Will DoTechnical & Project LeadershipLead the planning, coordination, and execution of large electrical distribution projects and engineering programs.Provide technical oversight and guidance to Project Managers, Designers, Engineers, and other project team members.Review design packages, calculations, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and technical documentation.Provide technical consultation related to power distribution systems, utility design standards, power delivery, and infrastructure planning.Coordinate with planning, surveying, construction, network, standards, and other internal technical groups.Conduct site visits and gather field information as needed.Review project progress, identify potential issues, and work with teams to keep projects on schedule and within budget.Research applicable technical standards, requirements, and design practices across different geographic areas.
Team Leadership & DevelopmentLead and develop teams of Project Managers, Designers, and technical professionals.Establish priorities, assign work, monitor performance, and provide technical direction.Mentor employees and support their professional development.Participate in hiring and help identify and attract experienced engineering and design talent.Develop training programs and technical resources to improve team capabilities.Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.Promote a strong safety and quality culture across project teams.
Client & Business DevelopmentDevelop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients.Work directly with clients to understand their power distribution needs and develop appropriate technical solutions.Identify opportunities for additional services and regional business growth.Assist with proposals, presentations, contract negotiations, scopes of work, schedules, and fee development.Develop professional relationships with utility, engineering, construction, and industry partners.Represent the organization at client meetings, industry events, and professional associations.Help expand the company's presence and client relationships within the region.
Project & Financial ManagementEstablish project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing requirements.Monitor project financial performance and work with Project Managers to manage budgets.Support billing and receivables management.Ensure projects are delivered according to contractual requirements, established budgets, schedules, and quality standards.Prepare project and program status reports for clients and senior leadership.Coordinate internal departments and outside consultants to support successful project delivery.
What We Are Looking ForBachelor's Degree in Engineering10+ years of relevant electrical distribution design or engineering experienceExperience leading Project Managers, Designers, Engineers, or technical teamsExperience managing multiple projects or large engineering programsExperience developing and managing technical staffStrong knowledge of electrical distribution design and utility design standardsExperience working with utility clients, commercial/industrial customers, or power delivery programsExperience developing project scopes, schedules, estimates, and feesExperience with proposals and contract managementExperience managing client relationships and identifying business development opportunitiesAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, standards, and design documentationStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage competing priorities and work across multiple projectsStrong problem-solving and decision-making skillsWillingness to travel to project sites and client locations as needed
Preferred QualificationsProfessional Engineer (P.E.) licenseMaster's Degree in Engineering or MBAExisting relationships with utility, engineering, construction, or power industry clientsExperience with large-scale electrical distribution programsExperience developing new business and expanding existing client relationships
