Position Overview:
Cyanis LLC is seeking dependable and detail-oriented Utility Asset Field Technicians to support utility infrastructure field projects.This is a field-based independent contractor position involving the identification, verification, tagging, and documentation of utility poles. Contractors will travel throughout assigned project areas, locate designated utility assets, install identification tags, and accurately document completed work using photographs, GPS information, maps, and digital records.This position is well suited for individuals who are comfortable working independently outdoors, driving throughout assigned territories, using mobile applications and GPS-based maps, and completing repetitive field work accurately and efficiently.No electrical work, pole climbing, or utility repair work is performed in this position.
Primary Responsibilities:
Locate assigned utility poles using project maps, GPS coordinates, mobile applications, or other provided information.Verify pole locations and identifying information before completing work.Install metal identification or serial-number tags on utility poles using approved hand tools and attachment methods.Verify that the correct tag is installed on the correct utility asset.Install tags at the specified height, location, and orientation.Record tag numbers and corresponding pole/asset information.Capture clear photographs of completed work when required.Record GPS coordinates and other location information.Update project applications, maps, spreadsheets, forms, or other electronic records.Document inaccessible, damaged, missing, unsafe, or otherwise problematic utility poles.Report access issues, safety concerns, property interactions, or other significant field conditions.Maintain accurate and complete field documentation.Follow all project-specific procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards.
Contractor Requirements:
Applicants should:Be at least 18 years of age.Possess a valid driver's license.Have reliable, legally registered, properly maintained, and appropriately insured transportation.Have a smartphone capable of running project applications, GPS/navigation, taking photographs, and accessing mobile data.Be comfortable traveling throughout an assigned geographic territory.Be capable of working independently with limited direct supervision.Be comfortable working outdoors for extended periods.Be able to walk across varying terrain and access utility poles located along roadsides, rights-of-way, residential areas, and other field environments.Be comfortable using basic hand tools.Be able to accurately follow maps, GPS information, written procedures, and project specifications.Demonstrate strong attention to detail and data accuracy.Communicate professionally with property owners, utility customers, government personnel, law enforcement, and members of the public when necessary.Complete and submit a Form W-9 before receiving payment.
Safety Requirements:
Contractors may work around roadways, utility infrastructure, uneven terrain, vegetation, animals, and other field hazards. Unless otherwise specified for a particular project, independent contractors are responsible for their own:Vehicle and transportationFuelMobile phone/data servicePPEBasic hand toolsMeals and ordinary field expensesCyanis LLC or its customer may provide project-specific materials such as identification tags, asset lists, maps, documentation, or other required materials.
Note: This position does NOT involve climbing utility poles, handling electrical conductors, opening electrical equipment, entering substations, performing electrical work, or repairing utility infrastructure.If an assigned pole cannot be safely accessed, the contractor is expected to document and report the condition rather than attempt unsafe work.
