Boiler Operator/Maintenance Technician

About the role

Riverview Regional Medical Center is seeking a Boiler Operator/Maintenance Technician, also referred to as a Hospital Maintenance Technician III, Plant Operations Technician III or Boiler Operator III. This role performs advanced maintenance and repairs on hospital systems to help ensure a safe and operational healthcare environment. It also supports emergency response, preventive maintenance and facility projects while coordinating with staff and contractors to minimize disruption to patient care.

Schedule: Full time, days, with 8-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, medical gas and other systems.
• Respond quickly to emergency repair requests, such as system malfunctions or equipment breakdowns, to restore hospital operations without compromising patient care.
• Inspect and test critical hospital safety systems, including backup generators, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting and life safety equipment, to ensure they are functional and compliant with safety standards.
• Conduct regular inspections and checks to help prevent breakdowns, such as lubricating motors, testing generators and checking emergency lighting.
• Assist with hospital renovation and construction projects, coordinating work with contractors as needed on mechanical, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, plant maintenance and medical gas systems.

Requirements

• Ability to troubleshoot and read schematics and/or blueprints.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Certified and/or licensed in a specified trade related to healthcare engineering, such as steam boiler or HVAC.
• High school diploma.
