About the role

Steve Rachuonyo is listed as the employer. Mombasa County Public Service Board wishes to consider applications from suitably qualified and competent youth, women and persons with disabilities for temporary casual work under the County Flood Prevention, Drainage Restoration and Environmental Rapid Response Programme. The programme will be implemented through the Mombasa Yangu Programme in the Department of Transport & Infrastructure and Environment & Solid Waste Management within the County Government of Mombasa. A total of 3,000 youth will be engaged and onboarded in phases, based on operational requirements and approved deployment arrangements.

Casual workers / general labourers: 1,500 posts. The terms of service are three months on a casual basis.

Responsibilities

• Clear blocked and partially blocked storm-water drains and channels.
• Remove silt, vegetation, litter and other debris from drainage infrastructure.
• Clear accessible culvert entrances and outlets.
• Place extracted material at designated collection points for immediate removal.
• Identify damaged or defective drainage infrastructure for reporting to relevant technical officers.

Drainage clearance teams will operate under the technical supervision of the Department of Transport & Infrastructure.
