Become a Certification Analyst!FLOCERT is looking for a structured and business-oriented Certification Analyst to strengthen our Americas team based in San José, Costa Rica.In this role, you will coordinate and administer Fairtrade certification processes for assigned customers across South, North and Central America and the Caribbean. The position requires a high level of analytical capability, regulatory understanding and professional judgement, particularly in the context of ISO 17065-accredited certification systems.You will report to the Regional Director Americas and work closely with auditors, customers and internal stakeholders to ensure independent, compliant and high-quality certification decisions.Travel within and outside Costa Rica is required.

Your responsibilitiesAct as Certification Analyst responsible for a defined portfolio of Fairtrade customers in the Americas regionEvaluate companies and products against applicable Fairtrade Standards and internal certification procedures, including review of audit reports and taking certification decisions in line with ISO 17065 requirementsPlan, coordinate and conduct Fairtrade audits in assigned countries, including annual audit planning and follow-up of corrective actionsEnsure consistency, quality and timeliness of certification processes within assigned scopeCommunicate proactively with applicants, certified customers and auditors, providing structured guidance on certification requirements and responding to enquiriesIdentify compliance risks and non-conformities and ensure appropriate follow-up actions in accordance with internal proceduresAct as account manager for assigned Key Accounts while safeguarding impartiality and conflict-of-interest requirementsProcess Labelling Initiative requests and handle complex or special certification casesSupport the selection, onboarding and evaluation of external auditorsContribute to the continuous improvement of certification processes, tools and systemsMaintain accurate documentation in internal systems and ensure compliance with confidentiality and impartiality obligationsParticipate in regional and global FLOCERT projects and foster cross-functional collaboration
Your qualifications, experience and skillsUniversity degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Business, Agronomy, Food Science, Law, Economics, Environmental or Social SciencesValid permission to work in Costa RicaAt least two years of relevant professional experience in a certification, compliance, auditing or customer-oriented office environmentExperience with certification systems (e.g. organic, FSC, MSC, SA8000, ISO 14001) and familiarity with ISO 17065-accredited environmentsPrevious auditing experienceStrong analytical skills and high attention to detailStructured, reliable and accountable working styleStrong dedication to customer service combined with regulatory disciplineStrong motivation and commitment to credible social certification and assurance principlesFluency in Spanish and English (oral and written)Portuguese and/or French language skills would be a strong assetExcellent communication skills and experience working in multicultural environmentsExperience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools would be supportiveTechnical knowledge of agricultural commodities such as coffee, bananas, flowers, sugar or fresh fruits would be advantageousExperience in international trade would be nice to haveExperience in the food processing industry would be an asset
