Role Description:
City Shift Finance is seeking a Chief AI Officer to lead the firm’s artificial intelligence strategy, product development, and enterprise deployment across internal operations and client environments.This executive role will be responsible for building and scaling the firm’s broader AI function, including the development of proprietary AI systems, applied intelligence tools, and operational technologies designed to improve workforce economics, financial visibility, organizational performance, and enterprise decision support.
City Shift Finance has already created and deployed Surge, its proprietary AI system for operational and financial intelligence. Surge represents the first of a broader pipeline of AI systems the firm intends to build and deploy across industries, the Chief AI Officer will lead that expansion.
Responsibilities include defining enterprise AI strategy, overseeing system development and deployment, guiding infrastructure decisions, managing technical teams, evaluating third-party platforms and vendor relationships, establishing governance standards, and identifying new applications for artificial intelligence across the firm’s consulting and advisory work.
The role requires executive leadership across both technical and strategic functions, with a focus on translating AI capability into measurable operational and financial outcomes.
Qualifications:
Proven executive or senior leadership experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation, or enterprise software development.Demonstrated track record building, deploying, and scaling AI systems in live operating environments.Experience leading AI product strategy, enterprise implementation, and systems development.Strong understanding of large language models, agentic systems, workflow automation, retrieval systems, and applied AI infrastructure.Experience building and leading multidisciplinary AI, engineering, or product teams.Strong understanding of AI governance, privacy, security, and responsible deployment standards.Strong operational judgment with the ability to align AI development with organizational priorities and measurable return on investment.Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment across California and Nevada.Advanced degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, data science, or a related field preferred, though equivalent experience will be considered.Experience evaluating external AI platforms, cloud infrastructure, and vendor relationships.
