Electrical Project Engineer

Position SummaryThe Electrical Project Engineer is responsible for managing the electrical scope of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from engineering review through construction, commissioning, and final handover. This role ensures all electrical systems are installed, tested, and integrated in compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and project schedules while coordinating with contractors, suppliers, utilities, and internal stakeholders.
Key ResponsibilitiesReview electrical engineering packages, drawings, specifications, and technical documentationCoordinate electrical interfaces between BESS equipment, substations, SCADA, protection systems, and utility interconnectionsSupport contractor bidding, technical evaluations, and procurement activitiesSupervise electrical construction, quality inspections, testing, and commissioning activitiesCoordinate with contractors, consultants, Owner's Engineer, LUMA/PREPA, and project teams to resolve technical issuesMonitor project progress, RFIs, NCRs, punch lists, and technical risksPrepare technical reports and support project closeout documentation, including as-builts and commissioning records
QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering5–8 years of experience in electrical engineering, power systems, substations, renewable energy, industrial projects, or utility-scale constructionExperience with medium-voltage systems, protection & control, SCADA, commissioning, and contractor supervisionEIT or PE license preferredOSHA certifications and experience with BESS projects are highly desirable.
Technical SkillsKnowledge of power systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, protection relays, grounding, SCADA, EMS, and electrical testingFamiliarity with NEC, NESC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and LOTO requirementsProficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Project, Primavera P6, ETAP, or similar engineering software is preferredBilingual in English and Spanish
