About the role
The enrolled nurse provides direct and/or indirect nursing care to a group of patients under the direct and/or indirect supervision of the registered nurse and unit manager.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation regarding patient care.
- Maintain a therapeutic, clean and safe environment free from infection and hazards.
- Perform medical dealings and assessments and contribute to holistic patient care.
- Participate in the ward or unit quality improvement programme.
- Attend and conduct in-service activities and patient correspondence.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their care and promote their overall health and wellbeing.
- Refer patient and visitor complaints to the senior person in charge of the unit.
- Complete departmental duties and delegated tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as an enrolled nurse.
- Compliance with the SANAC code for an enrolled nurse and applicable health care regulations.
- ICU/CCU experience in the nursing discipline is an advantage.
- An elementary or high care course is an advantage.
- Computer literacy and flexibility in working hours and shifts.
