About the role
GE Vernova is seeking a Lead Substation Primary Engineer to support project execution, sales and business development through technical expertise in designing electrification solutions for EHV/HV substations. The role covers system design, material selection, quantity estimation, project engineering activities and customer technical consultations. Proposed solutions must meet customer needs and adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, quality requirements and cost-efficiency objectives.
The engineer works with applicable workgroups to meet assigned objectives and coordinates with GSI Global Engineering Centre (GSI GEC), GSI Regions and Business Lines as required by projects. The role involves making decisions within defined parameters, applying concepts to moderately complex issues and resolving issues through immediate action or short-term planning.
Responsibilities
- Prepare HV primary designs for GIS/AIS substation projects.
- Prepare basic single line diagrams, general arrangements, overall plant layout plans and sections, equipment control room and GIS building arrangements, equipment erection drawings, grounding layouts and details, and trench layouts.
- Complete grounding, lightning, cable sizing, battery sizing and illumination system designs, as well as sag tension calculations, short circuit force calculations and bus-bar sizing in accordance with IEEE/IEC.
- Prepare project-related HV equipment specifications, selections and sizing in accordance with IEEE/IEC.
- Evaluate vendor shop drawings, calculations and technical specifications.
- Support ITO tender drawings, BOQ estimation, RFQ finalization and evaluation of components, and equipment selection with best pricing options.
- Coordinate and integrate with Automation and Civil.
