Senior Staff Software Engineer

About the role

Join Vistance Networks in building the technology that powers next-generation broadband networks. The role focuses on the architecture, design, development, and optimization of backend services and distributed systems built with Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, web services, and databases. These systems help manage, monitor, and optimize high-speed broadband delivery platforms.

Responsibilities

• Analyze business and technical requirements to design scalable backend solutions.
• Evaluate technology choices and discuss tradeoffs and benefits.
• Address ambiguous problems by defining the problem and solution.
• Develop robust, secure, high-performance APIs and microservices.
• Maintain and enhance backend systems for reliability and performance.
• Test solution code and contribute to automated test coverage.
• Assist quality assurance engineers with debugging, test planning, and issue resolution.
• Document system architecture, design decisions, implemented solutions, workarounds, and root cause analyses.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated, end-to-end solutions.
• Leadership may include managing and mentoring other staff engineers and shaping the engineering culture.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in software product development in a Linux distributed applications environment.
• Analyze, develop, design, and maintain software for the Vistance Networks ServAssure product family.
• Minimum bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a similar degree program.
• High proficiency in Java, with in-depth knowledge of Spring and Spring Boot frameworks, Kafka and Kafka Stream, and web services (REST APIs).
• Experience leading a small group of engineers and defining tasks.
