Vice President – Major Projects & Dam SafetyPosition SummaryThe Vice President of Major Projects & Dam Safety reports directly to the Chief Executive Officerand is responsible for leading the company's Capital Projects and Civil Engineering & Dam Safetyorganizations.This executive is accountable for the planning, execution, and performance of the company'scapital program while ensuring the safe operation, regulatory compliance, and long-term integrity ofall dams and civil infrastructure. The role provides strategic leadership for project delivery,engineering, dam safety, capital planning, and organizational development.Executive Leadership• Lead the company's capital projects, civil engineering, and dam safety functions.• Develop and execute long-term strategies for capital investment, infrastructure modernization, andasset reliability.• Advise the CEO and executive leadership team on capital planning, infrastructure risk, and majorinvestment decisions.• Drive continuous improvement in project execution, engineering practices, and organizationalperformance.Capital Projects• Direct execution of the capital portfolio, including major maintenance, rehabilitation, and newconstruction.• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.• Establish project governance, portfolio prioritization, contracting strategies, risk management, andproject controls.• Oversee capital forecasting, resource planning, contractor management, and performancemetrics.Dam Safety & Civil Engineering• Provide executive oversight of the company's Dam Safety Program and civil engineering activities.• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including FERCrequirements.• Oversee inspections, surveillance, instrumentation, Potential Failure Mode Analyses (PFMAs),Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), risk assessments, and remediation programs.• Maintain engineering standards supporting the long-term safety and reliability of hydroelectricassets.Cross-Functional Leadership• Partner with Operations, Finance, Regulatory, Environmental, Legal, and Asset Management.• Present capital program and dam safety updates to executive leadership and the Board ofDirectors.• Support regulatory interactions and external stakeholder engagement.Leadership & Talent Development• Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing engineering and project teams.• Establish performance expectations and accountability.• Develop organizational capability and succession planning.• Lead geographically dispersed teams.Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline required.• Professional Engineer (PE) preferred; advanced degree desirable.• 15+ years of leadership experience in utilities, power generation, heavy infrastructure, or similarindustries.• Demonstrated success managing large capital programs and multidisciplinary engineeringorganizations.• Experience in dam safety, hydroelectric assets, or other safety-critical infrastructure preferred.Core Competencies• Executive Leadership• Capital Project Delivery• Dam Safety & Civil Engineering• Strategic Planning• Asset Management• Financial & Capital Planning• Regulatory Compliance• Risk Management• Stakeholder Management• Team DevelopmentTravel• Regular travel to hydroelectric facilities, project sites, and corporate offices.• Participation in emergency response activities as required
