Job description

Role Overview The Lead Estimator at Company in Dallas, Texas, is responsible for planning, preparing, and completing cost budgets, estimates, and bid package submittals for OSP construction projects. This role leads and delegates tasks to estimating teams to develop comprehensive pricing packages for various opportunities. Key Responsibilities Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and promote a safe work environment for all team members. Review bid packages including specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to clarify scope and requirements. Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, cost budgets, and estimates from project inception through bid submission. Identify critical project elements impacting competitive pricing and evaluate value engineering opportunities to optimize costs. Lead and mentor assigned estimating personnel supporting large Requests for Proposal (RFPs). Maintain thorough documentation and data to support all estimates. Develop installation unit costs and labor productivity targets based on site conditions and historical data. Compile detailed material, equipment, and labor requirements; coordinate with suppliers and vendors for pricing and availability. Review subcontractor quotes and proposals for completeness and compliance with project requirements. Assist in drafting proposal letters and components of complete bid response packages. Conduct detailed pre-bid and post-award reviews with internal teams, including project management, to ensure scope clarity and smooth project transitions. Requirements for Success Strong ability to read, understand, and interpret complex design drawings and specifications. Proficiency in industry-standard arithmetic and estimating formulas. Experience mentoring less-experienced estimators and managing estimating teams.
