About the role
Central Maine Healthcare is hiring a Coder I in the Medical Records department. The position is full time, 40 hours, days, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine.
Central Maine Healthcare is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving approximately 400,000 residents across central, western, and midcoast Maine through more than 40 primary and specialty care locations. It includes Central Maine Medical Center, Bridgton Hospital, Rumford Hospital, and the Maine College of Health Professions.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze documentation in medical records for inpatient and outpatient visits to determine diagnoses and procedures documented by physicians.
- Translate documented diagnosis and procedural information into coded data using the International Classifications of Diseases, Ninth Revision (ICD-9) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT).
- Determine code assignments using official American Health Association (AHA) guidelines, hospital-specific guidelines, and regulatory guidelines.
- Enter coded data.
