Job description

Controller | AI-Native Unicorn | $200K–$250K | Location – New York
Radley Green is partnering a fast-growing AI native business that went from seed to a $1B+ valuation in under three years, recently closed a large funding round, and is backed by tier-one VCs and well-known tech angels.
Why this role stands outBe the Controller at a company that is at the forefront of building AI tech - This isn't a standard Controller seat. You'll use the company's own AI to rebuild finance workflows: redesigning the close, automating reconciliations and pushing towards a zero-day close. Very few companies anywhere can offer this.Build the function from the ground up. You'll stand up the accounting function, take the business through its first external audit, and put in systems that scale. An outsourced accounting team handles execution, and you'll have room to hire as the company grows.Work with a team of accountants who get what you do. Product teams pair accountants with ML engineers to test agent quality. You'll work with them, give direct product feedback and speak to customers. It's an unusually collegial setting for a Controller.Get a front-row seat on a steep trajectory. This is one of the most significant AI applications in the economy, at a company growing very fast.
What you'll doOwn the monthly close, reconciliations, accruals, revenue recognition and financial reportingLead audit readiness from scratch: roadmap, documentation, controls and first external auditBuild scalable systems across AP, procurement, expenses, purchasing approvals, vendor commitments and spend reportingRedesign workflows with AI: decide where AI owns the work, where human review matters, and how to keep it all explainable and auditableAct as finance's internal "customer" of the product, feeding back to Product and Engineering and helping shape the road mapManage the outsourced team day to day while you focus on systems, automation and a zero-day closeGive leadership clear spend visibility by vendor, team, category, product, customer and cost driver
What they're looking forCPA Qualified6–12 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including 3–5 years in public accounting (audit)Has built or significantly scaled an accounting function in a high-growth businessConfident owning the full month-end close and leading auditsHands-on and happy to be an IC: this isn't a role for building a big teamThinks in systems and is curious about using AI to automate. A self-learner and tinkerer.Startup experience preferred, but strong candidates from larger companies are welcomeA steep career path so far. They're not looking for a long-serving Controller, but for someone ready to lead and build.
This is a world-class role for a Controller with a Public Accounting background and subsequent experience building out a finance function, systems and processes for a high growth business.
