A well-established structural steel operation is looking for a Chief Engineer to become a key technical leader within the business with responsibility spanning engineering, connection design, technical problem-solving and the development of the wider engineering team.
This is a senior-level opportunity for an engineer who wants real influence over how complex steel projects are engineered, detailed and delivered, working directly with project management, fabrication, production and leadership.
The business is continuing to strengthen its engineering and operational capabilities, with a pipeline of challenging structural steel work and an ongoing focus on improving the way projects are delivered.

The Role
You would be responsible for:Leading engineering activities and providing technical directionOverseeing structural steel connection designReviewing engineering calculations and design packagesWorking closely with detailing and project management teamsResolving technical and buildability issues throughout project deliverySupporting fabrication, production and quality teamsImproving engineering processes and standardsDeveloping and mentoring junior engineersSupporting the successful delivery of complex structural steel projects
What They're Looking ForStrong structural steel engineering experienceProven connection design experienceExperience within a fabrication or steel construction environmentStrong knowledge of AISC standards and practicesAbility to review and interpret engineering calculationsExperience working with detailing, fabrication and project teamsPrevious technical or engineering leadership experiencePE preferredBridge fabrication or structural bridge experience would be beneficial
