About the role
Garmin is seeking a full-time Environmental Health and Safety Specialist at its U.S. location in Salem, OR. The role coordinates, promotes and maintains environmental, health and safety standards in accordance with Federal and State regulations for Garmin Properties. Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8:00am - 5:00pm.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and maintain training for Garmin’s safety and environmental programs.
- Maintain and update company-wide Material Safety Data sheets.
- Administer company-wide safety management and conduct training on Hazard Communications, Bloodborne Pathogens, Lockout/Tagout, Emergency Action Plan, Hazardous Material Disposal and Emergency Management.
- Represent Garmin International to external organizations on facility environmental, health and safety matters.
- Maintain hazardous and non-hazardous waste programs, collecting and disposing of materials in accordance with Federal and State standards.
- Monitor changes from OSHA, EPA and other applicable regulatory agencies that may affect ongoing business activities.
- Maintain accident investigation and near miss reports for incidents on Garmin property.
- Develop process improvements for existing safety programs and conduct site inspections to assess compliance with company environmental safety plans.
- Monitor contractor safety programs and provide Operations Management with continuous, swift and accurate feedback on safety matters.
- Assist in maintaining departmental policies and procedures, and coordinate and track EHS communication and participation.

- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related Health or Safety field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
