Search Engineer (Consultant)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Search Engineer to administer, optimize, and scale search infrastructure in high-traffic production environments.

Tasks

• Administer, tune, and scale Apache Solr and OpenSearch clusters in production environments.
• Utilize strong Java and Python skills to read, debug, optimize, and modify existing application code.
• Oversee cluster topology, sharding, replication, and consistency across distributed architectures.
• Manage services on AWS (EC2, IAM, VPC, S3, CloudWatch) alongside third-party/non-AWS clouds like GCP.
• Build and manage REST APIs, custom Query DSL, and index management policies (ILM/ISM).
• Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation) and containerized workflows using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Troubleshoot bottlenecks and monitor system health using observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch.
• Accelerate development velocity and maintain code quality using AI-assisted coding tools (Claude, Copilot).

Requirements

• 2–5 years of hands-on production administration with Apache Solr and OpenSearch.
• 5–10 years of experience working within Linux environments and managing AWS infrastructure.
