Senior Drainage Engineer - Tampa FL

About the role

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a licensed P.E. to serve as technical lead on FDOT transportation drainage and stormwater projects and help grow its Florida Stormwater / Water Resources practice. The role covers drainage design, stormwater management, hydraulic and hydrologic analysis, and environmental resource permitting from concept through delivery.

Projects include highways, roadways, interchanges, bridges, urban corridors, and limited-access highways. Work applies tools including ICPR, HEC-RAS, MicroStation ORD Drainage, and GeoPAK Drainage.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex transportation drainage projects and direct stormwater management design and hydraulic and hydrologic analysis.
• Perform drainage design, pond siting analyses, and bridge hydraulic reports.
• Handle floodplain and stormwater modeling, culvert and storm sewer design, and environmental resource permitting.
• Support drainage permitting through SJRWMD, SFWMD, SWFWMD, NWFWMD, and FDEP, as well as MS4 / stormwater compliance.

Requirements

• Licensed P.E. with deep FDOT drainage engineering experience.
• Experience in transportation drainage, stormwater management, hydraulic and hydrologic analysis, drainage permitting, bridge hydraulics, pond siting analysis, and MS4 / stormwater compliance.
