Senior Firmware Engineer

About the role

Engtal is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to develop robust, high-performance electrical systems that integrate with electromechanical components and meet military-grade requirements. The role focuses on embedded software for real-time system control and autonomous defense applications.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement efficient, responsive real-time embedded software in C++.
• Interpret microcontroller, digital and analog IC datasheets and circuit schematics, and communicate design constraints and preferences to the electronics design team.
• Write simulations, unit tests and system tests, and integrate microcontroller tests within the CI environment.
• Incorporate microcontroller and embedded Linux code in software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) tests.
• Document designs using pseudocode, block diagrams, schematics, simulation results and test protocols.
• Test, simulate and debug embedded systems in lab and field environments; troubleshoot and optimize electronics and software for real-world conditions.
• Improve code performance and reduce power consumption on hardware-constrained platforms.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in electrical and firmware design, including schematic design and embedded software development.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• Expertise in microcontroller firmware development in C++, schematic design and electrical simulation.
