Social Work Consultant

About the role

Confidential is a defense advocacy firm that provides tailored consulting support to defense attorneys through detailed reports prepared by experienced forensic social workers and forensic mitigation specialists. The Social Work Consultant performs clinical assessments and prepares biopsychosocial assessments to enhance legal advocacy. The role includes on-site client work and remote tasks from home.

Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical assessments and prepare biopsychosocial assessments.
• Collaborate with forensic mitigation specialists, forensic social workers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams that may include defense attorneys.
• Prepare clear written reports and presentations.
• Stay current with relevant clinical criminal justice practice and social work methodologies.

Requirements

• Strong social work practice foundation, including case management, client advocacy, biopsychosocial assessment, and referral coordination.
• Ability to analyze community-based programs and services, conduct clinical assessments, and develop practical clinical recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparing clear reports, guidelines, and presentations for varied audiences.
• Strong collaboration, organization, and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) or a related field; New York State licensure, such as LMSW or LCSW, is preferred.
• Experience in the New York City social services ecosystem or community-based programs is highly beneficial.
• Comfort with basic digital tools and project documentation, including virtual meeting platforms.
