Job description
KORE RPO is seeking a dedicated Special Education Attorney for a full-time, on-site position serving students with disabilities. The role is based in Santa Ana, California, while the listing location is Los Angeles, California. You will advocate for students and families, help ensure compliance with special education laws, and support better educational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise and represent clients in special education matters involving Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Section 504 plans.
- Research special education law and regulatory compliance to support client cases.
- Draft and review advocacy letters, settlement agreements, pleadings, and other legal documents.
- Negotiate with school districts to resolve disputes and secure appropriate educational services.
- Represent clients in administrative hearings, mediation, and court proceedings as needed.
- Collaborate with educators, therapists, and other professionals to understand students’ needs and advocate effectively.
- Monitor legislative and legal developments in special education to support current advocacy practices.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- At least three years of experience in education law, specifically special education.
- Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and relevant state laws.
- Strong negotiation and litigation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using legal research tools and document management software.
