About the role
The Vice President, Health and Safety shapes and executes a forward-thinking safety vision aligned with Herc Rentals’ operational and growth objectives. This role drives enterprise-wide safety strategy, embeds safety into the organizational culture, and positions safety as a competitive differentiator.
Founded in 1965, Herc Rentals is one of the leading equipment rental suppliers in North America. Herc Rentals serves customers through approximately 607 locations and had about 10,000 employees in North America as of June 30, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute a long-term safety strategy supporting the company’s mission, operational excellence, and risk mitigation goals.
- Advise the executive team and integrate safety into strategic planning, capital investments, and operational decisions.
- Champion safety ownership and accountability throughout the organization.
- Build cross-functional relationships with Operations, HR, Legal, Sales, and Marketing to embed safety into core business processes.
- Represent Herc Rentals with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and external stakeholders to influence policy and stay ahead of regulatory trends.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development to build internal safety capabilities and leadership pipelines.
- Lead innovation in safety practices and deliver measurable improvements in safety performance and business outcomes.
