Claims Consultant, Commercial Risk

About the role

The Baldwin Group is an entrepreneur-led insurance brokerage firm providing commercial insurance and risk management, private insurance and risk management, employee benefits and benefit administration, asset and income protection, and risk mitigation strategies. The Claims Consultant manages insurance claims for clients at the individual and portfolio levels. The role requires technical knowledge of insurance claims handling and risk mitigation techniques, relationship-building, and effective communication with clients, carriers, and colleagues. Strategic vision and tactical execution of risk mitigation plans help drive favorable client Cost of Risk results.

Responsibilities

• Process submissions throughout the claims process lifecycle for agencies and insureds, assigning them to the appropriate claims firm.
• Respond to agencies and insureds seeking help understanding a specific claim.
• Assist claims adjusters with requests to gather additional data or documentation about a specific claim.
• Work with adjusters, policyholders, and other parties to close and mitigate current losses and prevent future losses.
• Review and interpret adjuster reports and provide necessary information to parties upon inquiry.
• Interpret policy coverages and explain basic policy provisions.
• Support advisors.

Requirements

• Technical knowledge and experience in insurance claims handling and risk mitigation techniques.
• Ability to develop relationships and communicate effectively with a diverse range of clients, carriers, and colleagues.
