Director of Development

About the role

The Director of Development at MRI - Macon Resources, Inc. plans, organizes, and directs fundraising, including major gifts, the annual fund, planned giving, special events, and capital campaigns. The role works closely with the President/CEO on development, fundraising, marketing, and public relations. It also coordinates public information and education, marketing, resource development, social media maintenance, customer service, and internal communication.

The Director researches and evaluates business opportunities for job training for persons served, both at MRI and in the community.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain fundraising and planned-giving systems for agency expansion through private funding, including a donor database.
• Coordinate fundraising and development activities and maintain personal contact with major benefactors and potential givers.
• Create fundraising goals and plan and carry out initiatives to achieve them.
• Identify new donors and organize funding initiatives.
• Develop major gift opportunities and write grant proposals.
• Inspire new supporters to raise money while maintaining and developing relationships with existing supporters.
• Research and evaluate commercial and service-based work opportunities aligned with MRI’s mission.
• Develop and maintain vendor and customer relationships to support ongoing and future business opportunities.
• Manage and update databases containing donor contact and preference information.
• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate public relations and marketing.
