About the role

CNA Insurance provides legal services in support of assigned litigation matters. The attorney maintains responsibility and accountability for a caseload and works collaboratively with claims professionals, insureds, and business partners to achieve favorable outcomes.

The role handles matters requiring legal analysis, sound judgment, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Cases are managed through investigation, discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations, and resolution.

Responsibilities

• Handle insurance defense or coverage matters through all stages of litigation, including trial.
• Manage litigation preparation and develop case strategy.
• Prepare and direct preparation of briefs, motions, discovery, depositions, and expert-related matters.
• Evaluate litigation and settlement strategies and drive cases toward resolution with an appropriate sense of urgency.
• Handle court appearances, motion practice, discovery, negotiations, and trial-related activities as necessary.
• Participate in bench and jury trials in state and federal court, as appropriate.
• Communicate regularly and concisely with clients, claim professionals, leadership, and others to support effective case management.
• Conduct legal research and analyze facts and information to provide counsel and guidance on legal questions or issues.
