Senior Electrical Engineer

About the role

Nexus Engineering Group is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to ensure the quality and timely delivery of engineering designs and reports, particularly for power distribution and electrical systems in process and industrial facilities. The role includes direct client interaction, site visits, hands-on support, and occasional travel to client sites and Nexus offices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare power distribution and electrical system designs for process and industrial facilities.
• Prepare specifications and data sheets for transformers, switchgear, motors, UPS, and other equipment.
• Conduct vendor inquiries, bid evaluations, and shop drawing reviews.
• Perform power system analysis and relay coordination.
• Conduct area classification and electrical code assessments.
• Prepare construction labor and material cost estimates and project schedules.
• Support programming and set points for VFDs and relay protection, as well as field support.
• Lead projects, including developing engineering schedules, budgets, and forecasts.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience designing electrical distribution and control systems and performing power system calculations.
• A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is required; an advanced degree is a plus.
• FE certification is desired; PE certification is a plus.
• High voltage substation design experience up to 345 kV is preferred.
• Subsurface and overhead transmission line design experience is preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including MS Project.
• AutoCAD and 3-D CAD experience is a plus.
• Experience with electrical design tools and calculations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work effectively in teams, and ability to present a positive image to clients.
