Unit Manager - Medical Ward

THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
Unit Manager will also be responsible for monitoring and ensuring that Quality Nursing care and service delivery is implemented and practiced within a multidisciplinary team.

In accordance, the Unit Manager will be accountable and responsible for coordinating capacity building, mentoring, coaching, training and development in his / her unit.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure the unit is providing care, cost-effective quality patient care in line with clinical governance strategy of the hospital and private outsourced practice
- Ensure that Unit’s organogram and patient care policies and standard operating procedures are followed
- Ensure that implementation of quality indicators and clinical indicators is done
- Ensure patient safety is achieved
- Carry out the relevant staff management (monitoring, mentoring and coaching) to ensure adherence to standards
- Ensure that all staff carry out their duties as per job description
- Ensure effective communication between all stakeholders

REQUIREMENTS:
- Relevant qualifications with a relevant management experience
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Nursing Assistant / Nursing Auxiliary / Registered Nurse
- Compliance with the SANC code for a Registered Nursing and all applicable health regulations
- 3 years’ management experience
- At least 5 years working experience
- Strong leadership skills
- Computer literacy
- Advanced Computer Literacy
- Experience in hospital / healthcare environment
