Unit Manager - Medical Ward

REQUIREMENTS:
• Relevant qualification with a relevant management experience
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Nursing Management
• Compliance with the SANC code for a registered Nursing a nurse and applicable healthcare regulations
• 5 years management experience
• Shift working experience
• Current knowledge of infection control practices
• Computer literacy

THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
The Unit Manager will also be responsible for monitoring and ensuring that Quality Assurance and service delivery is implemented and practiced within a multidisciplinary team.

In accordance, the Unit Manager will be accountable and responsible for coordinating capacity building, mentoring, coaching, training and development in his/her unit.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure that your unit is providing care, correct, safe, and effective patient care within the clinical governance framework
• Manage and ensure proper and effective patient information and communication
• Facilitate the planning and implementation of various patient care activities to improve patient outcomes
• Ensure maintenance of appropriate patient records, including monitoring and reporting on performance indicators
• Ensure the patient care plan is aligned to the clinical pathway and relevant regulations
• Ensure implementation of quality improvement initiatives
• Oversee the implementation of infection prevention and control within your unit
