AV Programmer

About the role

Red Thread is seeking an AV Programmer to develop, deploy, and maintain control system solutions for client audiovisual projects. The role focuses on reliable AV control systems, modern programming practices, system integration, and maintainable code.

The AV Programmer works with clients, systems engineers, project teams, and management to understand requirements and develop efficient control code integrating AV hardware with networked and software-driven platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy AV control system programs for audiovisual projects.
• Program and configure AV control platforms, user interfaces, and system logic.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, project managers, and clients to define system functionality, scope, and implementation approach.
• Develop maintainable, well-documented control code and system architectures that support long-term support and scalability.
• Modify and update existing control programs to address system changes, improve performance, or support new hardware and integrations.
• Integrate AV control systems with networked devices, DSP platforms, video distribution systems, and third-party technologies.
• Develop scripts, utilities, or software tools to improve programming workflows, system monitoring, or internal engineering productivity.
• Perform system testing, debugging, and validation to ensure reliable operation.
• Support commissioning and troubleshooting during field integration and commissioning.

Requirements

• Strong experience in audiovisual control system programming.
• Familiarity with modern programming languages, APIs, networking, and system integration.
• Curiosity and initiative to expand AV system capabilities through software development techniques.
