About the role
Mission Regional Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare, is a 297-bed, non-profit hospital providing inpatient and outpatient hospital services to the people of the Rio Grande Valley. The hospital has offered quality healthcare for over 60 years.
Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile supplies and instruments for each assigned procedure, maintain the sterile field during cases, and provide the surgeon with sterile supplies and instruments.
- Demonstrate competency and proficiency as a CST II and primary scrub in open heart surgery or complex orthopedic procedures, including fractures due to trauma, complex spinal fusion, robotics, or bariatrics.
- Practice independently as the primary scrub technician and assume the role of camera holder and retractor holder on basic or complicated cases.
Requirements
- Graduate of a Certified Surgical Tech (CST) training program.
- One year of experience in a surgical setting required.
- Certified Surgical Tech (CST) Certification required upon hire and maintained for employment. Per Texas statutes, non-certified employees hired prior to 12/2014 are exempt from this requirement.
- Current BLS (AHA) required upon hire and maintained.
- Demonstrated competency and proficiency as CST II and primary scrub in open heart surgery or complex orthopedic procedures.
