Departmental IT Manager

About the role

The HR Departmental IT Manager owns the configuration, optimization, and day-to-day support of enterprise human capital management systems, including PeopleSoft, Cornerstone, HR Acuity, and ServiceNow. The role partners with HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT leaders to deliver scalable solutions and support data integrity across the employee lifecycle.

Mecklenburg County's Departmental IT Manager oversees systems development planning, research and analysis, technology integration, capacity planning, data administration, training, and technical support for Human Resources. The position identifies goals and targets, drafts policies and procedures, oversees implementation plans, serves as a liaison, takes ownership of a major business process, and supports collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, code, test, debug, and customize department-based IT solutions.
• Apply best practices and advanced methodologies, including Agile techniques, to review system requirements and business processes as development and technology environments change.
• Provide day-to-day technical support to employees for hardware and software systems.
• Discuss issues with users to diagnose problems, troubleshoot, rectify faults, and escalate problems as needed.
• Resolve users' problems, queries, or complaints effectively and in a timely manner.
• Assist with hardware and software evaluation and recommend IT infrastructure upgrades or improvements.

Requirements

• Minimum six years of progressively responsible technical experience.
