Position Overview

As a Regional Manager – Foundations, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for foundation and civil construction operations across a defined geographic region.

You will be responsible for P&L performance, project execution, team leadership, and client relationships, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably. This role oversees multiple project teams and Project Managers while driving consistency, performance, and growth within the foundations business.

This position is ideal for a proven leader with deep expertise in foundation construction methods, power delivery infrastructure, and field operations management.

Key Responsibilities

Provide leadership and oversight of foundation construction operations across multiple projects and locationsManage regional P&L performance, including revenue growth, cost control, and profitabilityLead and mentor Project Managers, Superintendents, and field leadership teamsEnsure projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standardsOversee project planning for foundation and civil scopes, including:Drilled piers and caissonsDriven piles and micropilesStructural concrete and spread footingsDirect embed and anchor systemsSitework, excavation, and access roadsCollaborate with estimating and preconstruction teams to support bid strategy and project pursuitBuild and maintain strong client, subcontractor, and partner relationshipsIdentify and mitigate operational risks, constructability challenges, and geotechnical constraintsDrive resource planning, workforce development, and equipment utilization across the regionPromote and reinforce Michels’ safety-first culture at all levels of the organizationSupport strategic initiatives, growth planning, and continuous improvement efforts

What it takes?

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience10–15+ years of progressive experience in construction, with a strong background in foundation, civil, or power delivery projectsProven leadership experience managing multiple project teams, regions, or business unitsDeep knowledge of foundation construction methods, including:Drilled shafts / piersDriven piles and micropilesStructural concrete and site civil workStrong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and P&L performanceDemonstrated ability to lead teams, develop talent, and drive operational excellenceExperience with project management and scheduling tools (Primavera, HCSS, or similar)Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skillsValid driver’s license with an acceptable driving recordWillingness to travel extensively and support regional operations and project sites
