Job description
About the role
The AV Infrastructure organization at General Motors provides developer environments, cloud infrastructure, and ML/AI GPU platforms to support AV research and development teams. This enables faster building, testing, and running of autonomous vehicle technologies within GM.
General Motors is seeking a Senior Capacity Engineer to join the AV Capacity and Performance Engineering team within the AV Infrastructure organization. The role supports efforts in developing autonomous vehicles through large-scale ML infrastructure strategy, cloud budget decisions, optimization projects, and capacity planning.
Responsibilities
- Develop and refine technical models for capacity planning of GM’s autonomous vehicle infrastructure.
- Design and build automated analytical tools to monitor capacity and demand signals.
- Partner with AI/ML engineering teams, infrastructure engineering, and cloud vendors to identify and drive optimization projects that improve engineering and cost efficiencies.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant work experience.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in coding with Python, the preferred language.
- Experience with BI platforms, data modeling, and working with SQL on large datasets such as BigQuery.
- Good understanding of distributed systems, including modern ML system architecture and design.
Preferred qualifications
- 8+ years of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in coding with Pandas and NumPy, and proficiency in Looker and BigQuery.
- Good communication skills and experience executing cross-functional projects.
- Experience with Git, Linux, and common Linux CLI tooling.
- Experience analyzing billing and usage data in GCP.
- Experience with modern ML system architecture and design.
