About the Role Bluebix Solutions, a cutting-edge deep-tech startup in the photonics sector, is pioneering next-generation solid-state far-UVC light sources. These compact, energy-efficient devices are revolutionizing disinfection, sensing, and advanced photonic applications. We are seeking an experienced Lead Photonic Product / Packaging Design Engineer to drive the development and production release of innovative far-UVC light engines. This full-time, on-site role in Raleigh, North Carolina requires a hands-on engineer skilled in multidisciplinary collaboration and complex design ownership. Key Responsibilities Lead design and product release of packaged far-UVC light engines delivering industry-leading performance. Develop optoelectronic packaging solutions for hybrid and integrated photonic assemblies, addressing thermal, electrical, optical, and material challenges. Serve as liaison between R&D and manufacturing partners to ensure Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DfMA) and Design for Quality. Analyze product performance data to guide prototype, pilot, and production scaling requirements. Manage assembly specifications and change controls for volume manufacturing ramp-up. Oversee supply chain troubleshooting, failure analysis, and resolution during product launch. Document inspection instructions, test criteria, and non-conformance actions supporting manufacturing quality. Collaborate cross-functionally to meet performance and cost targets. Promote innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team. Qualifications & Requirements Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Optics, Materials Science, or equivalent. 6+ years of photonic or optoelectronic industry experience in new product design and packaging. Proven expertise in photonic packaging design, thermal management, and optoelectronic assembly. Strong problem-solving skills with hands-on engineering and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Experience working with manufacturing partners and supply chain management. Excellent communication and documentation skills.
