Senior Data Center Relocation Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Center Relocation Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise data center migration.

Physical equipment relocation will be handled by a third-party vendor. This role focuses on infrastructure assessment, documentation, planning, coordination, and migration readiness.

Tasks

• Develop and validate rack elevations, cable diagrams, connectivity maps, and port mappings.
• Document VMware ESXi hosts, physical servers, network switches, storage arrays, and firewalls.
• Identify VM-to-host relationships, network dependencies, and storage connectivity.
• Analyze Palo Alto firewall configurations, including security policies, zones, NAT rules, and application flows.
• Prepare firewall change requests and security documentation for migration.
• Conduct physical data center assessments, verify equipment labeling, and maintain hardware inventories.
• Design target-site rack layouts, including power, cooling, cabling, and cross-connect requirements.
• Develop de-racking/re-racking procedures, migration runbooks, and equipment movement records.
• Coordinate with network, storage, and security teams to validate IP addressing, VLANs, and SAN zoning.
• Work with relocation vendors and project managers on migration schedules, waves, and readiness.
• Participate in CAB meetings and follow formal change management procedures.
