Senior Software Engineer

Nextern is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our product realization team. Position Description

The Senior Software Engineeris primarily responsible for developing software/firmware and its associated documentation per established quality system procedures. You will work in multi-disciplinary teams to meet product and project requirements; collaborating with engineers from a variety of companies and industries. You will also have the ability to mentor junior engineers.

Duties And Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain software solutions using programming / scripting languages such as C, C++, C#, and PythonAssist in creating and maintaining product documentation (requirements, specification, design, development, integration, test procedures and results)Participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code and other artifactsContribute to system risk analysis and FMEA activitiesHelp break down project schedule and plan activities throughout the developmentAble to act as the software product owner on smaller projects and can be a technical subject matter expert and take ownership of components on larger, more complicated systemsActively contribute to software process improvement activities and can help drive new process improvements within the organizationImplement source code meeting product requirements in compliance with coding standardsPlan, develop, and execute integration and unit tests to ensure and maintain source code qualityConsult for verification test activitiesProvide timely corrective actions on all assigned defects and issuesCoordinate configuration and release of embedded software and firmwareProvide technical mentorship to software engineers including, but not limited to, software architectural design decisions, code review and approvals, software verification planning

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Engineering5-10 years related work experienceStrong written and verbal communication skillsKnowledge of software design, development, debug and test practices in a regulated environmentEmbedded software design, implementation, and test experienceProficient in C++ and/or C programming in embedded environmentsUnderstanding of multitasking and device driver complexitiesSoftware architecture and design experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of and experience with IEC 62304 and medical software lifecycle developmentExperience with Qt or other GUI toolkitsExperience with wireless communication protocolsExperience with C#, Python for tool development, automation, and manufacturing processesUnit and module level software testing experienc
