Job description
Homeschool Teacher – Special Education Focus (Autism & ADHD) About the Role We are seeking a compassionate, creative, and experienced homeschool teacher to work one-on-one with a 9-year-old boy who has been diagnosed with autism and ADHD. He is a bright and capable boy who, unfortunately, has fallen through the cracks in traditional school settings. Our goal is to help him get caught up to grade level while nurturing his love of learning, building his confidence, and supporting his unique strengths. About the 9-Year-Old Boy He is 9 years old and in grade 4, but not at grade level at present He is very intelligent and affectionate, with a strong curiosity about the world. He knows his numbers, letters, and time, and enjoys looking up the weather in cities around the world. Has a special fascination with fans, cell phones, and iPads. He has difficulty sitting still for a prolonged period of time. He has received various modalities of treatment for years. Responsibilities Develop and implement a customized homeschooling curriculum aligned with California educational standards. Adapt lesson plans and teaching methods to accommodate his learning style, attention span, and sensory needs. Provide instruction across core subjects (English, Math, Science, Social Studies) with opportunities for enrichment in areas of interest. Use multi-sensory teaching strategies and positive behavior supports. Track progress regularly and adjust teaching strategies as needed. Foster social, emotional, and life skills in addition to academic growth. Communicate regularly with parents on goals, progress, and strategies. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in education or related field (special education background strongly preferred). Experience working with children with autism, ADHD, or other learning differences. Familiarity with IEPs differentiated instruction, and evidence-based interventions. Strong classroom management and organizational skills in a one-on-one setting. Creativity, patience, and enthusiasm for teaching. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Offer of employment will be contingent on successful completion of a background check and reference verification. Schedule & Location Full-time, in-person at the family’s home in San Juan Capistrano, Orange County. Schedule: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and alternating Saturdays. Consistency is important, though hours are flexible and will be discussed further. Compensation Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications.
