Job description
Jedalyn Bocago is seeking an experienced Part-Time Virtual Medical Assistant to support an independent psychiatric nurse practitioner serving telehealth and in-person patients. This remote role is for candidates with behavioral or mental health practice experience in New York.
Responsibilities
- Schedule appointments and send reminders.
- Manage patient intake and verify insurance coverage.
- Review, manage, and route patient portal messages.
- Prepare prior authorization paperwork.
- Submit insurance claims and follow up on claim status.
- Send pre-approved communications to patients.
- Log prescription refill requests for provider review.
Required Qualifications
- Behavioral or mental health practice experience in New York is required.
- Strong understanding of healthcare administrative workflows.
- Comfort using HIPAA-compliant communication practices.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Valant.
- Advanced medical billing and insurance claims experience.
