Systems Analyst 3 — FHIR/HL7 Developer

About the role

HHSC is seeking a hands-on FHIR / HL7 developer to design, build, test, and support healthcare interfaces.

Tasks

• Develop and support healthcare interfaces using HL7 v2, FHIR, REST APIs, JSON, and XML.
• Map, transform, and validate healthcare data across systems.
• Diagnose interface failures, resolve data exchange issues, and document error-handling procedures.
• Work with business and technical teams to define input and output requirements, assess system limitations, and document proposed changes.

Requirements

• Candidates must live within 50 miles of Austin.
• 8+ years designing, developing, testing, and supporting healthcare interfaces using HL7 v2, FHIR, REST APIs, JSON, and XML, including data mapping, transformation, validation, troubleshooting, and error handling.
• 5+ Secure healthcare portals or portal-integrated services, including API integration, authentication, authorization, role-based access control, secure coding, testing, and production support
• 5+ TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python
• 3+ Strongly preferred - FHIR implementations using US Core profiles, Electronic Case Reporting implementation guides, and other HL7 implementation guides
• 3+ Strongly preferred - Implementing or integrating FHIR servers, FHIR APIs, and related interoperability solutions
• 3+ Mapping, transforming, and validating data across HL7 v2, FHIR, and analytical data models
• 3+ Healthcare terminology standards, including SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10, CVX, and RxNorm
• 3+ FHIR on AWS or a comparable cloud platform, including integration with ingestion pipe

Schedule

• Hybrid. Onsite Mondays and Wednesdays, remote three days per week. Schedule subject to change.
